Walter C. Smith Company is a privately owned construction company offering decades of experience in horizontal drilling services for pipeline contractors, utility providers, municipalities, petroleum companies and other agencies for the construction of public and private utility systems.
Our base of operations is located in the Central San Joaquin Valley to maintain a relatively equal proximity to projects throughout California. We do consider projects throughout the western states and have completed several projects outside of California.
We have developed the capacity to provide the methods for installation of pipelines of more than 10 feet in diameter. Our equipment is primarily for ‘soft ground’ conditions; however, we do have systems available for installations through hard rock and other difficult subsurface conditions.
These services are required for the installation of underground services that intersect improvements such as freeways, canals, and railroads as well as naturally occurring circumstances where trenching is neither feasible nor cost effective.
